Two Productions is a theatre company making innovative, original Aotearoa New Zealand works from its base in the Common Room.
The company is on a mission to grow and foster Ōtautahi Christchurch’s theatre scene. Its vision is to see the city become internationally recognised for innovative theatre.
Co-artistic directors Holly Chappell and Tom Eason say to do this the city needs to continue developing its own cultural voice as there is no other city like it.
The pair say a key aspect of this process is offering ways for theatre makers to collaborate. They aim to establish an environment where the theatre community can can come together freely to share ideas and inspire each other.
Holly and Tom also believe it’s important to foster young theatre-makers as they fell in love with theatre at a Christchurch youth company and want to pass this passion on to the next generation.
Two Productions holds workshops for up-and-coming actors to help nurture their talent and runs education programmes for primary school-aged children to allow them to see how theatre is developed and to have the chance to create their own works. They want young people to see that making theatre is not just as a hobby, but as a viable career option.
