Delight your senses and develop your own signature scent at Christchurch’s new artisan perfumery at The Arts Centre. Fragranzi offers unique perfumes, created by Christchurch perfumer, Conan Fee, who has been teaching fragrance design as a professor and head of the School of Product Design at the University of Canterbury, for the past three years. Conan himself learned his skills from professional perfumers based in Thailand, New Zealand and the UK. He says it is a great balance of science and art, and there is always so much more to learn and experience.
A novel “Medici” system invented by Conan makes fragrance design simple for the novice, and the studio features this system in a make-your-own experience in-studio. In just 15 minutes (the time your other half needs to have a coffee!) you can make a wonderful perfume, with starter recipes that cover some great perfume types. You can adjust up to 20 base fragrances to create a 15 mL, individually labelled, bottle to take away, all for just $65. Something you can easily do by yourself, or share the experience with a friend and each additional bottle of your perfume will cost just another $30. No bookings required - just drop by the studio any time and ask proprietor Glenda and her friendly staff!
Fragranzi also takes bookings for guided design-and-make social evenings for small groups to create that extra special scent for a wedding, significant birthday, or anniversary. Ideal for hen’s parties or for any social group to have a fun get together.
For those looking to learn more about fragrances or to build their knowledge and skills, we also run one-day introductory, one-week foundation and two-week professional courses in perfume making. Keep your eye out for more information on these on our website, starting from February 2021.
