The Arts Centre is a charity and relies on fundraising to maintain the heritage precinct and run creative programmes on site. Proceeds from this shop support The Arts Centre and the artists who design and supply products.

For a truly special slice of Ōtautahi Christchurch, we even have a limited number of maquettes of Neil Dawson’s Echo (sculpture that hangs in the North Quad) available for sale. 

Policies and Gift Card T&Cs 

Returns and exchanges policy

If for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase, please get in touch with us immediately. We are happy to accept returns on full-priced items for an exchange or store credit, provided goods are in their original condition: they must be unopened, unworn, unused, and in original saleable packaging.
Returns are only accepted if the item is deemed faulty on delivery. Due to the handmade nature of many of our goods we do not accept returns for small blemishes, makers marks, and slight differences in colour, shape and size to the website photograph.

We do not provide refunds should you change your mind. Sale items cannot be returned. Original shipping and handling charges are non-refundable.

Goods must be sent back at the cost of the customer or returned to the shop in person within seven days of purchase. Once received we will either send out your chosen item for exchange or issue you with store credit. Exchanges are subject to availability.

Damaged goods

In the unlikely event of an item being faulty, please email us. Returns of faulty items will be accepted unless deemed general wear and tear. If accepted, we will replace the faulty item at our expense. If the product is no longer available we will offer a store credit or refund.
Refunds will be made in the form of original payment.

Out of stock goods

Due to the bespoke and limited nature of many of our products - In the rare event that an item purchased is out of stock we will arrange a refund or replacement.

Gift Card Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern the use and operation of The Arts Centre Shop Gift Card.

Agreeing to the Terms and Conditions

1.1 You agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions by purchasing, activating, using, or attempting to use your Arts Centre Shop Gift Card or making any transactional query.

1.2 By using your Arts Centre Shop Gift Card, you warrant to us that you will comply with these Terms and Conditions and all applicable laws and that your Arts Centre Shop Gift Card will not be used in any manner which is unlawful, misleading, deceptive, or unfair.

1.3 If you are giving an Arts Centre Shop Gift Card to another person you must ensure that the recipient of The Arts Centre Shop Gift Card is aware of these Terms and Conditions, especially the expiry date.

1.4 Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre reserves the right to amend all or part of these Terms and Conditions at any time. If we decide to do this, we will publish details on our website.

Purchasing an Arts Centre Shop Gift Card

2.1 . The Arts Centre Shop Gift Cards can be purchased from The Arts Centre Shop, for any value from $20 upwards.

2.2 The Arts Centre Shop Gift Cards will be issued in New Zealand Dollars only.

2.3 Once an Arts Centre Shop Gift Card has been purchased, it cannot be refunded.

Redeeming an Arts Centre Shop Gift Card

3.1 Arts Centre Shop Gift Cards are exclusively for use at The Arts Centre Shop and can only be redeemed at The Arts Centre Shop in the Engineering building.

For the avoidance of doubt, please note:
The Arts Centre Shop Gift Cards are not valid for purchases at any other store, hospitality outlet, gallery, museum, or other venture operating from or associated with Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre.
The Arts Centre Shop Gift Cards are not valid for online purchases or event bookings via artscentre.org.nz.
The Arts Centre Shop Gift Cards cannot be used to obtain entry into any ticketed event at Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre.

3.2 Any value redeemed will be deducted from the available balance on the card. If your purchase/s exceeds the available balance on your Arts Centre Shop Gift Card, you must pay the excess using another method of payment.

3.3 The Arts Centre Shop Gift Cards are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. Our record of your expiry date is final. Once your Arts Centre Shop Gift Card has expired The Arts Centre Shop Gift Card cannot be re-activated and any unspent value cannot be used or redeemed by you.

3.5 The Arts Centre Shop Gift Card cannot be redeemed for cash. No cash advances will be made at any time.

3.7 You do not need to use the entire available balance in one transaction, but we will not give out cash for the remaining balance. Instead, you can carry over the remaining balance to use on future purchases until The Arts Centre Shop Gift Card expires or the balance reaches $0.

Lost or Stolen Arts Centre Shop Gift Cards

4.1 You should treat your Arts Centre Shop Gift Card like cash.

4.2 Arts Centre Shop Gift Cards cannot be replaced or refunded if lost, stolen or damaged.

4.3 We reserve the right to place a stop on your Arts Centre Shop Gift Card if:
(a) you report that your Arts Centre Shop Gift Card has been lost, stolen or damaged; or
(b) we believe or reasonably suspect that you have used or will use your Arts Centre Shop Gift Card contrary to these Terms and Conditions.

Errors and Complaints

5.1 If you wish to dispute an amount deducted from your Arts Centre Shop Gift Card, please talk to us at The Arts Centre Shop or email shop@artscentre.org.nz.
If an amount is not disputed within ninety (90) days after the transaction date, we may (at our sole discretion) refuse to provide you with a refund.
