This is a collection of works revolving around an ever-growing personal concept of analysing Max's own existence through his lens whilst also drawing in what he experiences second hand through other’s existences.
The works explore feelings of addiction, loneliness and deep despair. This is visualised through dark and confronting imagery through photographs and drawings that have been heavily edited. The opposite and euphoric feelings of these experiences have been conceptualised through bright colours and curious faces mostly in the form of paintings and drawings that stand for characters Max sees within his world.
All physical works have been hand-made based on a pure state of consciousness to effectively convey the feelings he feels through his human experience that cannot be expressed with words. This often results in a fast-paced process that is full of electric energy to create unconventional results.
The collection is meant to evoke feelings of relatability, not to Max but to our own experiences of emotions and how the emotions we see make us think of our own within the context of your experiences.
Artist's Biography
Max is a first-year student at the Ilam School of Fine Arts and is a budding Christchurch born artist. The 20 year-old takes influences from local scenes around the city and experiences in his own life. He hopes to put his name further out there to see people engage in what his perspective has to offer.
