Visions & Revisions: The Body, the Self, and the Divine

Tuesday 04 - Sunday 09 February 2025

Time

10.00AM – 5.00PM

Venue: Pūmanawa Gallery

With inspirations drawn from Christian scriptures, theological ideas, and personal spiritual reflections, this exhibition boldly images an affirming relationship between the female body self and the divine. This work arises as a lovingly crafted visual diary which the artist originally began creating for herself, in order to pursue a journey of reclaiming her body as good and capable of participating in sacred revelation.

In these pieces, a curvy and sensual female body dances, muses, and invites the viewer to draw near to her, over and against a religious and cultural tradition which have obscured her, shamed her, and vilified her. This exhibit, titled, “Visions and Revisions”, overtly celebrates the female form, while simultaneously holding space for a reimagination of the texture of divine presence.

Some artworks are for sale.
